As a general rule, in case of transporting heavy loads such as steel plate, the series with machined steel casing is used and for light loads those with a steel sheet casing. For the transport of delicate products such as glass or aluminum sheet, the use of references with the main ball in plastic (delrin) is recommended.
Top collar series are usually fixed by gravity. Some references have a removable fixing clip option that is supplied separately. The series without collar are fixed by support at the bottom and if necessary, adhesive or cold welding can be used. The FL series has a threaded fixing screw. The DV series have fixing holes in the collar for screw fixing
We will divide the maximum load to be transported by 3. The resulting figure will be the greatest load to be supported for a ball trasnfer unit. We should use a reference that exceeds this resultant load, always taking into account a safety margin.
It will be necessary to divide by 3.50 the shortest horizontal side of the load. For example, for a part with base dimensions of 350 mm x 1,000 mm, the recommended distance should be 100 mm (350 mm divided by 3.50). In the case of rigid pieces such as steel plates, the distance can be increased by dividing the smallest horizontal side by 2.5.
